| VOLUNTEER
PROGRAM
Volunteering for CEN can be a mutually beneficial and rewarding
experience. You can utilise your skills and personal experiences
in a different way, whilst helping progressing our projects.
You will contribute directly to the children’s wellbeing
and education, or contribute in another way to any of our
other projects.
It is important to both you and us that we discuss your and
our expectations before you commit to volunteering. This way,
we can ensure your experience will be unforgettable!
In return for your positive experience, as well as to cover
your living expenses whilst in Nepal, we are asking a nominal
financial contribution of $75 per week. This money will be used directly for
the orphanage.
In order to minimise risks to the children and to our organisation
we may request a police clearance from your home country.
In addition, CEN will only accept volunteers who take out
their own insurance. This insurance will need to cover at
least the following:
- Health insurance, including coverage for injuries (at
cost)
- Theft and loss of belongings
- Public liability (min. US$5m).
There are a number of volunteer options for you to consider.
Volunteer at the Orphanage
The children are cared for round the clock by three carers.
They provide the children with two meals a day (the children
eat ‘tiffin’ at school, or some light snacks),
personal and emotional care, and a clean healthy environment.
We would welcome volunteers who could preferably spend at
least one month with the children, so that they can get to
know you, and you can get to know them.
A day at the children’s home could look as follows:
- Assist with breakfast and getting the children off to
school in the morning;
- Help out with organising and cleaning up the house;
- Assist the children with their home work after school;
- Play with the children, either just games or educational;
- Read with the children;
- Assist with dinner and getting the children to bed;
- And in general, spend time with the children and the
carers.
All you need is a flexible attitude, an open mind, and a
genuine interest in the children’s wellbeing and development.
Again, please approach us through the Contact
Us page if you would like to find out more.
Volunteer with other CEN Projects
In future, there will be other projects that may require
your valued assistance. Particularly people with experience
in education, health care, and nutrition may be required.
And we can always use some friendly faces in the office to
help us with keeping the web site up to date, regular reports,
developing project proposals, general administration etcetera.
